What this website collects, why, who sees it, and how to get it back or erased.

proximate.app is run by PsyTech ("we"). This policy explains how we handle your personal data. It is written to meet India's Information Technology Act privacy rules and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect, and why

  • Waitlist. Your name, email address, the product you're interested in, and any note you add. We use it to contact you about access. You give it by submitting the form.
  • Account. Your name, email address and a password. We store the password only as a salted scrypt hash, so we cannot read it. We also keep whether you've confirmed your email, when you joined, and which version of this policy you accepted. We use it to run your account.
  • Messages. What you write in the feedback or contact forms, an email address if you give one, and the page you were on. We use it to reply and to improve the products.
  • Technical. Your IP address is used briefly in memory to limit abuse, such as repeated sign-in attempts. We don't store it in our database. Our hosting and network providers keep their own server logs.

Passwords are sensitive data. We collect yours only so you can sign in, and we never see it in plain text.

What we don't do

We run no analytics, advertising trackers or third-party cookies. We don't sell or rent your data. We don't profile you or make automated decisions about you. Fonts are served from this site, so your browser doesn't contact Google or any font host.

Cookies

We set one cookie, __Host-px_session, only after you sign in or confirm your email. It keeps you signed in, is HttpOnly and Secure, and lasts 30 days or until you sign out. It is strictly necessary for the account to work, so we don't show a cookie banner.

Email

We email you only for things you asked for: confirming your address, resetting a password, and one message after you join the waitlist (with a link to leave it). We don't send marketing without asking first.

Who handles data for us

  • Render hosts the site and database (region: Singapore).
  • Cloudflare runs the network in front of the site and holds a backup copy of our database. The backup is encrypted on our server before it leaves, so Cloudflare cannot read it.
  • Brevo delivers our emails and receives your email address and the message.

They process data only to provide their service to us. Some of them handle data outside India. We send them only what the service needs.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist entries and messages: erased automatically 24 months after you send them, unless tied to an account you still hold.
  • Accounts: until you delete them.
  • Sign-in sessions: 30 days. Confirmation links: 24 hours. Reset and leave links: 1 hour.
  • Backups mirror the current data, so something you delete disappears from the backup with the next update, within minutes.

Your rights

  • Access. Signed-in users can download their data from the account page. Others can ask through the contact form.
  • Correction. Fix your name on the account page, or submit the waitlist form again with the right details.
  • Erasure and withdrawing consent. Delete your account from the account page, or leave the waitlist using the link in our email or the removal page. Withdrawing doesn't affect what we did before you withdrew.
  • Nominate someone. You can name a person to exercise these rights for you if you die or can't act. Write to us to set that up.
  • Complain. Use the contact below. If we don't resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India once its complaint process is running.

We aim to answer any request within 30 days.

Security

The whole site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, sign-in sessions and email links are stored only as hashes, backups are encrypted, and we rate-limit sign-in and forms. No system is perfect. If a breach affects your personal data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

This site is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think we have, tell us and we'll delete it.

The products

Proximate Broker and the Proximate app will have their own privacy notes when access opens. By default the assistant runs on a model on your own device. An optional cloud model, if you switch it on, sends your questions to that provider.

Changes

We'll post changes here with a new date. If a change is significant and you're on the waitlist or have an account, we'll email you.

Contact and grievances

Complaints and requests about your personal data go through the contact form. Start the message with "Privacy" so we route it straight away.
